Preparing your Homes for Hosting the Holidays

​Are you hosting this year’s holiday celebrations? One can imagine the excitement to get together with friends or family members who haven’t been together for quite a while. Also notable are the times when you stress about the things to prepare at this time of the year. Worry no more! Here are some of the important pointers to remember:

1. Check your food storage in the house
   One thing that you should never forget is to buy groceries ahead and store them properly. It is in preparation for the dinners you will cook for your guests. Go check out your fridge and dispose of anything that’s already expired. Defrost your fridge and clean it up using baking soda. Do not forget to spare some space in the fridge for the leftovers during your dinners.
   
   
2. Prepare the guest rooms
   It is where your guests will be staying, so make sure that it’s all cleaned up and organized. Prepare extra clothes for them and set it aside for emergencies. Tidy up those blankets, pillows, and bed sheets and make sure they smell good and fresh! Be sure to give the guest room a lot of space where your guests can hang their clothes and stuff. 
   
   
3. Stock-up on these things:
   Being the host usually gives you very little time to go out late at night when you ran out of ice. Also, it feels quite queasy about getting up early to buy coffee filters at the grocery store. Make sure you have an ample supply of these holiday stuff:
          - Wine
          - Coffee (and sugar)
          - Chips and sweets
          - Detergents (for cleaning)
          - Toiletries (soap, toothpaste,  toothbrushes, mouth wash, shampoo, etc.)
          - Paper towels
          - Toilet paper
   
   
4. Childproof your house
   Make sure your house is safe for your guest’s kids. Cover up electrical outlets, put rubber matting on the edges of your tables & furniture, and keep the vases off the edges of tables (or better yet, put all breakable items in your storage for the meantime.
   
   
5. Make a checklist
   It is very helpful to have a checklist of the things we need to buy and chores to accomplish. That way, you won’t forget a thing and will make your guests feel at home with you!
